What is BlytheconUK?
Blythecon UK came about as a result of Blythecon 2009 - an event held in the USA for fans of Blythe dolls. We in the UK thought we would love to have something similar, so started to organise our own! BlytheconUK will be a great opportunity for Blythe fans from across Europe to meet, get to know each other while enjoying the competitions, demonstrations, talks we have planned, and also getting a chance to be able to buy hand crafted clothes and accessories for your dolls.
Why did you chose the Baden Powell House, London?
While looking for a venue within the UK, we searched all across the country looking for a place bigger than last year's venue, with a more accommodating layout, and within a reasonable budget. Since our event is, in the end, a charitable fundraiser, we didn't want a space that cost an arm and a leg just to rent out! Oddly enough, we found such a place in London! Baden-Powell House is owned by the Scout Association , an organisation with a long history of benefitting children and young people. So, though our chosen charity for the day is The Little Princess Trust, our choice of venue will help out Scouts and Guides throughout the UK as well.
How do I buy a ticket?
Tickets are available through our website. Payment is through Paypal. Once you have filled in the online form and completed your payment you will receive a confirmation email. Your ticket will be posted to you before the event - make sure you bring it with you!
Who needs to buy a ticket?
Anyone who is planning on participating in the day needs a ticket. Young or old, any Blythe fan who wants to join in on the fun (though minors must be accompanied by an adults) should register. The "+ guest" ticketing option is merely for guests to bring along a non-participating friend/spouse/boyfriend/etc who won't be interested in the workshops, demonstrations, shopping, or goodies given to every registered attendee.
What charity are the profits going to?
All proceeds from the day will be donated to the Little Princess Trust, a charity for children suffering from hair loss due to cancer or alopecia. The Little Princess Trust provides real hair wigs to help these children fell better during this very difficult time.
Will there be food available at the venue?
The venue is both a conference centre and a hostel and it does have a cafe for light refreshments. Vending machines are also available. Additionally, there are a number of dining locations within a few minutes' walk of the event venue.
Where are people coming from?
All over the UK and Europe!
